When Mama Dies
By Mark Flippo
What a tragic time in a person's life when a caretaker passes. We mourn their lose because they have cared for us and now their light has gone out! We throw ourselves upon God's Mercy and pray for the Comforter to join in and help us transition to grow past the pain and not get lost in it! Some get stunted in their growth with God because they feel the pain is to great. We need to surrender our heart to God for Him to put the soothing salve on it and caress it to make it whole once again. We all mourn differently.
Give all the people time to grieve in their own way. My wife still goes by her daddy's grave even though he has been gone for many years. My father, mother and sister have all passed and I had my time of greaving but I do not feel that same need to visit the grave side like my wife has. Her way is not wrong, that is just her emotional makeup. My way is not wrong either. I know once they die the shell that housed them is empty. Your way may not be either of these but your greaving is no less important. Let me leave you with this scripture of comfort.
Psalms Chapter 23:
1-(A Psalm of David.) The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2-He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3-He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4-Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5-Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6-Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
