Racism Is Not Rational!
By Mark Flippo
I have never really understand racism in any form. My moms parents were from the south and they were very prejudice! My parents never spoke that way in front of us kids! A Big Thank You to my parents! I never had anyone in school that was black until my Junior year. They became my best friends! The young man was in my grade he worked hard and became our class president!
The first time I realized my grandparents were very racist was at their 50 wedding anniversary. The ladies that were cooking were black and had to come through the back door. I thought that was so odd! I asked my mom and she told me that is the way it was in their area. Black people were not allowed through the front door to work. I loved my grandparents but shame on them.
They are gone now. My folks never used the (n) word. They were always respectful. Jesus stepped in and changed things. I am so grateful God did it! My wife and I are very happy with a black woman pastor. She is so wonderful and then more. Our church family is mostly black. They are the best people you can find anywhere. We have friends in other congregations that we love too.
We watch out for each other. We pray together! Thank you pastor for being a woman of prayer. We have taken them to our hearts. If God so moves we go to them and speak a word of encouragement into their lives. They are such a major encouragement to us and to see their spiritual growth is fantastic! There should never be prejudice from anyone. All our feet stink no one is better than any other!
