The Importance Of Having A Great Wife
By Mark Flippo
My wife Marian and I met at Sunday service. She was standing up behind the pulpit singing and I thought she was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. (She still is!) We went to lunch with some other people.
There was a small spark between us. I worked at the airport at the time and she did not live far from there. I stopped by her apt. one night after work and we talked for a little while. The relationship did not seem like it was going anywhere. When we went to kiss good night, WOW fireworks did go off!! She was and still is a great kisser! (She mine guys.) I got so excited that I wanted to kiss some more. That was the start of our relationship.
That was in April of 1975. We got engaged in May of the same year, and got married in December. To some that seemed fast but we were both in our twenties. We had grown up with a lot of responsibilities making us more mature. Marriage is so great at first, then you have to start working on your marriage. Sometimes married people want to act like their still single. You have to change to make it work. It is very time consuming. But it is so worth it.
When you start arguing just stop, find some common ground to start your discussion with and then work on the problem you are having. We have had a lot of arguments over the years. These days it is sometimes to much energy to argue. Learn not to push your partner's buttons and you know what they are. Pray a lot and learn you will be wrong most of the time. It's her viewpoint and then your viewpoint. Somewhere in the middle is the Truth! COMPROMISE! God has invested in you both! Allow Him to direct your paths.
