(MAY); A Little Word With A Huge Meaning!
By Mark Flippo
This is a straightforward message to people who believe they are Christians. It may come across a little rough but it is done in Love. A great friend of mine has been studying John chapter 17. He suggested I do the same because he was receiving a lot from these passages! I read it several times. At first I did not get much from it. I reread it several more times and finally something started to stick out at me. A little word (may). I went to Webster's to see all the definitions. One word stuck out to me for a better understanding of the scriptures using the word POSSIBLY and related forms of the word. Let's reread these passages with this small change in wording, still meaning the same.
JOHN:17:
20-Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21-That they all (CAN POSSIBLY ) be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also (CAN POSSIBLY) be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22-And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they (HAVE A POSSIBILITY TO) be one, even as we are one:
23-I in them, and thou in me, that they (CAN POSSIBLY) be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24-Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they (CAN POSSIBLY ) behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
25-O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
26-And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me (CAN POSSIBLY) be in them, and I in them.
Each time it means it is possible but not a guarantee! Because of denominationalism this seems to be an area, we as Christians are lacking. If we are one as His children then the world will believe. Ask yourself does this world believe? Who's fault is that? It is not God's! He gave us a promise that we as His children are letting Him down on! Here's a solution, not an easy one. We must put aside (not change) our beliefs, to work with others no matter what they call themselves. We have an entire world to help but we stay divided.
Our Pastor (C. Davis) is very much a prayer warrior! Our congregation is made up from different groups. We have learned to worship together and really love each other! Coming together as one is very powerful. Many of them are young in the Lord. We have felt so much Love and Unity here it has made a huge difference in our lives. Are you ready to become one so that the world can be saved? Or in judgement will they point a finger at us, because we did not come together as one they were lost?
