The Origin Of Easter
By Mark Flippo
The First Council of Nicaea (325AD) established two rules, independence of the Jewish calendar and worldwide uniformity, which were the only rules for Easter explicitly laid down by the council. The most widely accepted theory of the origin of the term is that it is derived from the name of a goddess mentioned by the 7th to 8th-century English monk Bede, who wrote that Ēosturmōnaþ (Old English "Paschal month") corresponding to April, which he says "was once called after a goddess of theirs named Ēostre, in whose honour feasts were celebrated in that month".
The good thing about Easter is it brings everyone's minds to think about Jesus! That is a hard thing to do it seems. So many go about their lives thinking about many things except God, unless they are swearing! Why is it that G.D. is so overused? They are asking God to damn something when they really don't believe that He does much. I would never want anyone damned! That would send them into eternity without our Savior! It would be nice that all of the Easter Christians would think before they ask Him to do this for them! Please let God clean out your Heart and Mind this Easter Sunday! I do not know that I will get any Amen's but here it is.
